Yoga balls

Yoga balls are also known as Swiss balls, exercise balls, fitness balls, balance balls and many other names. They have even more uses than they do names. They are commonly used in yoga because they increase flexibility and strength and improve balance. New styles of yoga have even been developed to include Swiss balls.

Yoga balls will also help to do the following:
• Develop strength and control of major body core muscles, particularly in the back and abdomen
• Increase mobility and flexibility of the back, especially the lower back
• Improve overall balance and stability
• Learn proper posture and mechanics for lifting heavy objects

The size range of balls by diameter typically ranges from 14 to 34 inches. They are made from a very elastic type of rubber and are often used in physical therapy. People who work sedentary jobs sometimes use Swiss balls instead of an office chair. This forces them to sit using proper posture to maintain balance on the ball, improved posture leads to improved back health.
